Starting tomorrow, Birmingham will welcome leading experts in life sciences, innovation and economic development for the Emerge BHM conference, which aims to highlight the city’s growing biotechnology ecosystem. Keep reading for what we know about this event October 19-21.

Emerge BHM is bringing together leading experts in biotechnology

According to a press release from Southern Research, Emerge BHM will offer a chance to gain insights into the latest advancements in biotechnology and healthcare, connect with leaders, participate in engaging discussions and learn more about Birmingham’s biotech community.

“This conference is a chance to discuss the urgent and important efforts to address these disparities and expand precision medicine through the nationally acclaimed research and development institutions in Birmingham.”

Attendees will spend part of the conference touring Birmingham, including the Civil Rights District, the Lakeshore Foundation and several neighborhoods.

Participants will experience many panel presentations that focus on clinical trials, emerging pathogens, precision medicine and public-private partnerships.

The conference will feature national expert panelists, including:

  • Susan Monarez, PhD, deputy director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ ARPA-H
  • Sandeep Patel, PhD, the first Director of BARDA’s Division of Research, Innovation + Venture
