Savannah and Chris Noble, along with their daughter Vera, have been in and out of hospitals since the birth of their 17-month-old twins, Nelli and Hugo. Fortunately, three Ronald McDonald Houses across the South have given them a home away from home during this trying time.
Celebrating Day of Change, the anniversary of the first Ronald McDonald House, makes all the difference for families like theirs. Keep reading to find out how you can get involved.
Meet the Noble family, from Loxley, AL
With various shot malfunctions, feeding intolerances and surgeries, Savannah and Chris have fought alongside their son Hugo throughout his entire journey. Staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham helped make that possible.
“Considering that my son is 17 months old and has spent most of his life in the hospital, there’s no way that we would be able to afford a hotel or anything like that four and a half hours away from home.”
Savannah Noble
The journey can get lonely, though. Savannah spoke on the community she found while staying at various Houses.
“It’s a community as well. A lot of people that stay in the House are going through similar situations.
You’re able to talk to other families and encourage them, let them encourage you and feel a part of something.”
Savannah Noble
It takes a community to make sure RMHC can help Alabama families when they need it most. You can support this mission at your local McDonald’s today.
Every day is a Day of Change when you Round-Up for RMHC
On October 15, 1974, the first Ronald McDonald House opened. Around this date each year, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) across the world celebrate the impact made through the RMHC Donation box and Round-Up for RMHC.
Day of Change brings awareness to the fundraising happening every day at McDonald’s. Supporting over 5K Alabama families every year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama (RMHCA) could not generate these funds without help from their communities.
As of August of 2023, $874,854 has been raised through Round-Up for RMHC (and counting)!
“The Ronald McDonald House has provided us a place to stay while Hugo has been in the hospital. If that weren’t the case, then I don’t really know what we would do.”
Savannah Noble
In case you were curious, the money raised through Round-Up so far this year covers the cost of 6,999 nights.
To put that in perspective, RMHCA must raise enough to cover the cost of 26,645 nights in the 73-room House, so families don’t have to pay to stay close to their sick or injured children.
Grab a Day of Change t-shirt to help RMHCA support Alabama families
Show your support of RMHCA when you wear your Day of Change t-shirt on Friday, October 20, post a picture on your socials and tag @RMHCAlabama to help raise awareness of #KeepingFamiliesClose.
Short-sleeved shirts are $20, long-sleeved are $30 and they can be shipped for an additional $5 or picked up at the Ronald McDonald House, 1700 4th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233.
“If anybody ever wants to donate money, they should donate it to the Ronald McDonald House. You’re helping people survive their daily lives while they have a sick child, which is hard to do anyways, but especially with other children involved.”
Savannah Noble
