Dill Pickle Sno-ball
Extreme pickle lovers, have you tried NOLA Ice’s dill pickle sno-ball? (NOLA Ice)

Attention pickle lovers. During this hot weather, pickles can serve as a refreshing treat when stored in the refrigerator. Take it to the next level with our list of pickle flavored treats in The Magic City. Keep reading for the details.

1. Hi-Wire Brewing | pickle beer

Alabama-based Wickles Pickles and Hi-Wire Brewing came together to create an unusual combo: pickle beer. Hi-Wire Brewing’s Wickles Pickle Beer (5% ABV) is a sour ale that is highly coveted when available. The beer is brewed with all the pickle-making ingredients including: cucumbers, dill, coriander, Himalayan salt and black pepper.

2. The Filling Station | fried dill appetizer

Stop by The Filling Station for large dill pickle spears battered and fried. The appetizer is served with a house sriracha ranch sauce for all your dipping needs.

3. Harvest Roots | pickle board

Enjoy a pickle platter featuring olives, pickled tomatoes, banana peppers, hot + spicy pickles and bread + butter pickles. The spread is perfect for a snack and is absolutely delicious —and you can pair it with some kombucha, too. Make sure to try the amazing fermented pickles as well.

4. Alabama Peanut Company | ghost pepper pickle peanuts

Snack on ghost pepper pickle peanuts from Alabama Peanut Company if you think you can handle the spice. The peanuts are boiled and only available at limited times, so make sure to check the menu.

5. MELT | fried pickles

One of my favorite appetizers in Birmingham is the fried pickles at MELT served with jalapeño ranch. The pickles are juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They are a must try.

6. NOLA Ice + Broad St Peaux Boys | dill pickle sno-ball

This combination is for serious pickle lovers. Cool off with a cup of dill pickle flavored “soft ice shaved twice.” Look for the NOLA Ice bright yellow truck rolling around town at many events near Downtown and Southside—plus the sno-balls can be purchased at Broad Street Peaux Boys + NOLA Ice in The Pizitz Food Hall.
