Move over Atlantic City! Birmingham is about to have its own version of one of the world’s most popular board games– MONOPOLY.
The Birmingham edition
Top Trumps USA, the American division of Winning Moves International, creators of classic games and puzzles, will debut MONOPOLY: Birmingham Edition in March 2024. The Magic City Edition will replace the board game’s famous Atlantic City squares with well-established Birmingham businesses, nonprofits and landmarks.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin spoke about the new Magic City version of MONOPOLY Tuesday. He described his own experience with the board game, playing as a young child in Birmingham.
“MONOPOLY not only taught us the importance of “rule following,” but it was the one game we all played as a family,” Mayor Woodfin said.
First Alabama city to be featured by MONOPOLY
According to Katie Hubbard with Top Trumps USA, Birmingham will be the first city in Alabama to be converted into a MONOPOLY experience board.
Other U.S.cities featured in MONOPOLY editions include:
- Kansas City
- Palm Springs
- Pittsburgh
- Sacramento
