7 fun ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in Birmingham

1. I Love America Night in Vestavia Hills
Want to celebrate early? Vestavia Hills’s I Love America Night is coming up on June 22. With fun activities for the whole family like free swimming at the Aquatic Complex, a variety of vendors, a live concert and fireworks, you won’t be disappointed!

2. Fireworks at the Barons game
The Birmingham Barons will be playing the Rocket City Trash Pandas the weekend of the Fourth. Enjoy fireworks after the game on Friday, Sunday and Monday nights. Buy your tickets here.

3. Thunder on the Mountain
A Birmingham tradition, Thunder on the Mountain surrounds Vulcan each year in a vivid fireworks show. Additionally, local radio stations play songs along with the display. Tune into 102.5 The Bull, 103.1 The Vulcan, 103.7 The Q, 104.1 The Beat, Birmingham’s ALT 991, and B106 for the music.

4. Summer UAB Band outside Bartow
Get in the patriotic mood before Thunder on the Mountain and watch this community band play. Walk over to Vulcan afterwards for the fireworks show.

5. The BTC Peavine Falls Run
If you’re looking for an active way to spend your holiday The BTC Peavine Falls Run at Oak Mountain State Park may be for you. Enjoy this race’s beautiful outdoor setting and course. Register before June 18 for a complementary t-shirt.

6. West Homewood’s Farmer’s Market
Looking for some fresh produce for your Fourth of July Spread? The West Homewood’s Farmer’s Market is a fun activity happening this holiday! Open on the 4th, as well as every Tuesday in June, July and first week of August, you’ll find yummy fruit, veggies, baked goods and more.

7. Our Lady of Sorrows Fourth of July Festival
Our Lady of Sorrows in Homewood’s gigantic Fourth of July barbecue includes a smorgasbord of pork, ribs, turkey, chicken hot dogs and more! This annual celebration is also holding a garage sale and a raffle, which has a $5000 grand prize.
