Love cocktails? Magic City Sips starts June 7!

Are you a cocktail connoisseur? The city of Birmingham has created a new summer program just for you. Each Wednesday this summer, from 4-7PM, you can join in Magic City Sips. This Birmingham-specific happy hour features speciality drink and food items at local restaurants and bars. Started by the Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity, Sips provides a fun opportunity to support our city’s businesses during the week. Read on for more info.

Here is a list of local restaurants and bars that offer a Sips cocktail hour.
1. Bosses@Midtown
With daily specials, including my personal favorite (Taco Tuesday!) Bosses@Midtown offers a fab environment and delish drinks. Fun fact: This local venue is also available to rent for events.
2. Bodega’s on 5th
If you’re in the mood for a cigar with your cocktail, Bodega’s on 5th is the place for you. With live music, sports and outdoor games, there are a variety of fun activities.
3. Bizarre the Coffee Bar
Calling all coffee lovers! Bizarre the Coffee Bar crafts delish drinks, such as the Cinnamon Roll Latte and Peanut Butter Mocha Shake, but also provides all the drinks of a great bar. It’s bizarre, yet sublime!

4. EastWest
EastWest represents a blend of Eastern Chinese and Western American cuisine. With entrees such as Mongolian Ribeye and Lobster-crab cakes, you’re in for a treat!

6. The House of Found Objects
The House of Found Objects offers patrons a unique and memorable experience. With a host of found objects and multiple fun rooms, such as the Jungle Room, the venue is certainly one of a kind.
7. Micheal’s
Craving surf and turf? Micheal’s has you covered! Enjoy fresh seafood, steak and drink specials this Sips cocktail hour.

8. Paper Doll Bar
This upscale bar has an urban feel. My personal favorite drink is The Dove Tail, but there’s many great options!
9. 5 Point Public House & Oyster Bar
With a fun indoor and outdoor atmosphere, 5 Point Public House & Oyster Bar has fresh oysters, seafood and specialty cocktails, along with a variety of wine and 30 craft beers.

10. Pilcrow Cocktail Cellar
An underground bar situated beneath Founder’s Station, Pilcrow Cocktail Cellar’s cool location and craft cocktails won’t dissapoint!
11. Queen’s Park
Do you enjoy a classic cocktail with a twist? The drinks at Queen’s Park bring something fresh and new to old favorites. Try the grapefruit gin and tonic or dry passionfruit daiquiri!

14. The Fennec
There’s no better bar food and drinks combos than at the Fennec. From stuffed jalapeños to fried green tomatoes, the menu is unmistakably southern. Wash it down with your choice of wine, beer, seltzer or specialty cocktail.

16. The Marble Ring
This fun speakeasy is inspired by the 1920s and has an array of vintage-style cocktails. I recommend the F. Scott Fitzgerald!
17. Uptown Jazz Club
There are certainly a variety of options for where to spend your Wednesday evening! Sips will go all summer long, until end of August.
