Birmingham locals were saddened by the recent closing of Lady E’s Chick’n Cafe known for its 24-karat gold-dusted wings. Luckily, they will be relocating to Elysian Gardens under a new name and management for people to enjoy once again. William Colburn, owner of the Gardens has high hopes for the chicken joint.

“I think chicken in that kind of environment will do very well. We were looking whether we wanted tacos or pizza and there’s already so much of all that over in Avondale, but there’s not a wing place.”

According to Andrea Parker, managing partner of Lady E at Elysian parent company Sosa Restaurant Partners, the company is looking to reopen before Christmas in the new location.

The first restaurant tenant space has already been claimed by The BBQ Box, owned by Bill Knapp. The barbecue joint is expected to open by March 2023, just in time for live music to be hitting the outdoor stage again.

The Gardens are an all-inclusive gathering place and are continuing on growing its family-friendly events. William has plans to host a variety of family-friendly events at the sculpture park, including an artist Christmas Bazaar and summer movie nights in the garden for the children.

“We envisioned Elysian Gardens as kind of like Birmingham’s backyard for a lot of people who live in apartments or condos and lofts that don’t really have a backyard.”
