It’s farmers market season and we have a list of some that you must try. From locally roasted coffee and cheese, to locally raised meat and fresh eggs, read on to plan your visit.

1. Helena Market Days

Helena Market Days was founded in 2009 and is a local award-winning farmer’s market. It has been chosen as Shelby County Magazine’s “Best of the Best” farmer’s market for a number of years, including: 

  • 2012
  • 2015
  • 2016
  • 2017
  • 2019

Helena Market Days allows local farmers and producers sell their homemade or homegrown products such as: 

  • Handmade bread
  • Flowers
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Honey 
  • Homemade peanut butter + jams
  • Soaps
  • Woodworking

They also feature a different music artist or nonprofit for fundraising and mission awareness purposes every weekend. They even host chef demos!

2. Marketplace At Lee Branch

The Marketplace at Lee Branch was founded by Mike and Renee Betz after Renee was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. The pair wanted to change their eating habits by including more fruits and vegetables, so they created a place where the community could come together and shop for healthy and fresh produce while enjoying each other’s company.  

The Marketplace features local farmers’ produce and community members’ business products like: 

  • Candles
  • Produce 
  • Spices
  • Woodwork

3. Montevallo Farmer’s Market

4. Mt Laurel Farmer’s Market

Mt Laurel Farmer’s Market is located in the town of Mt Laurel. This town was built around the values of:

The towns’ farmer’s market takes place in the heart of the city with  several vendors and farmers present for residents and visitors to buy:

5. Valleydale Farmer’s Market

Valleydale’s Farmer’s Market features local farmers and artisans that sell:

  • Humanely-raised meats
  • Free-range eggs
  • Handmade pasta 
  • Locally-roasted coffee

They have so many products for their customers to choose from, so shop and support local.
