Shelby County is set to have a state-of-art health care facility soon. Read all about it here.
Ascension St. Vincent’s Building Vision
Ascension St. Vincent’s is drafting a plan for an ambulatory center that includes a freestanding emergency department, primary care, medical equipment and multi-specialty space in Pelham, according to The Birmingham Business Journal. They have also requested another facility that can house Ascension St. Vincent’s and UAB Medicine, so patients can access primary and specialty care assistance. The total cost of this project is $35 million.
Fulfilling a community need
When planning where to put the facility, they wanted it to be in a busy area so it will be near 1-65, exit 242 on McCain Parkway. Ascension St. Vincent’s applied to Alabama’s Certificate of Need program for their new facility, so they can get approved to move forward with construction. They anticipate the facility’s opening in early 2024.
“We’re just super excited about this whole project and being able to bring more healthcare down to Shelby County. It’s one of the fastest growing areas of the state and there’s a growing need for health care. Our goal is to just provide an incredibly convenient location where people seeking emergent care can access it in an approachable setting, so this location is a great alternative.”

This will be a win for the health of Shelby County citizens.
