NEW: A new fitness studio is coming to Mercantile on Morris
Looking for a new place to conquer your 2022 fitness goals? Personal by Studio E Fitness is the newest Mercantile on Morris tenant and is opening this spring. We’ve got all the details you need on Studio E Fitness’s first brick-and-mortar pilates studio—keep reading to check it out.
Welcome to Mercantile on Morris, Personal by Studio E Fitness
Studio E Fitness is opening its first brick-and-mortar studio focusing on classical pilates privates, duets and semi-privates in Mercantile on Morris. Personal will offer an on-demand pilates platform so people can join and take Studio E Fitness classes wherever they go—without membership fees. Instead, there will be packages for in-person and virtual private lessons, duets and semi-privates.
Why Mercantile on Morris? Studio E Fitness owner and founder Emily Dixon chose the spot for its prime location downtown. Plus, the studio will give Dixon plenty of space to train new pilates instructors.
“We’re thrilled to have Personal by Studio E Fitness at Mercantile on Morris. They’re a great fit, adding diversity to our tenant mix. Now, in addition to places to dine and shop, Personal creates a space to be active and exercise.”
Mary Claire Weeks, Orchestra Partners, Managing Director
Get to know Emily Dixon, the owner behind the studio
Dixon earned her BFA in dance at Temple University and trained in pilates at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. In Birmingham, she trained under a Host Advisor and has gone through additional training to become a Host Advisor herself. Not sure what a Host Advisor is? Basically, she can train other pilates instructors.
“I am most excited about building a downtown community; I feel welcome already meeting the other tenants of the shops nearby. Having a place where you can exercise in an area with unique restaurants and shops helps balance the community. I can’t wait to be part of such a great neighborhood.”

What’s next for Personal + Mercantile on Morris?
Personal is projected to open in April 2022—be sure to follow Dixon on social media and check out their website for updates. Until the studio opens, they’ll offer private lessons in your own home.
Plus, lessons in the studio won’t be the only things that Personal by Studio E Fitness offers. Dixon plans to host free events, like Pilates in the Park, to get the community even more involved.
“I hope to bring wellness, health and happiness to Mercantile on Morris. Joe Pilates quotes, ‘Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.’ Pilates can be mentally healing, not just physical, and I hope to bring that to Mercantile on Morris.”
