Birmingham is expecting tons of new things for the upcoming year including The World Games 2022 Birmingham (TWG2022). People from all around the globe will be gathering here, in Birmingham, to watch and compete in this elite sport competition. Sounds great, right? Newsweek thinks so too—they named TWG2022 one of 22 Great Things that will take place in 2022.

TWG2022 is bringing greatness to The Magic City

Recently, Birmingham was chosen as one of the 22 Best Places to go in 2022 by Conde Nast Traveler magazine, partially thanks to our city hosting TWG2022. Now, the competition has been declared as one of 22 Great Things that will take place in the upcoming year.

What exactly is The World Games? It is the new generation of global sport competition welcoming elite athletes from all over the world. 3,600 athletes from more than 100 countries get to compete for gold in 34 unique, multi-disciplinary sports that include:

  • Artistic sports
  • Ball sports
  • Martial arts
  • Precision sports
  • Strength sports
  • Trend sports

TWG2022 Birmingham will take place from Thursday, July 7, 2022 to Sunday, July 17, 2022—marking the 40th anniversary of the event. It is estimated to generate $256 million in economic impact.
