The City of Gardendale held a ribbon cutting for the Inaugural Rocket Around the Christmas Tree Trail on December 5. Here’s a video showcasing the trail via Sheldon Haygood from WBRC:
The City of Gardendale first switched the lights on for the Christmas Tree Trail on December 2. It can be viewed until January 2, 2022. The trail features 72 decorated tress from various sponsors and is located at Gardendale Civic Center’s lawn. Wanna know what makes these even more awesome? Funds that are raised at the trail will go to The Dick Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The Dick Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund
Rocket Around the Christmas Tree Trail honors the memory of Dick Lee. He was an active supporter of the Gardendale community before he passed away in September 2017. He had a 32-year long career at Regions Bank in Gardendale where he served in various executive positions.
Lee’s leadership was respected in several positions in charitable and civic organizations in the community. He was actively involved in Gardendale First Baptist Church where he mentored countless individuals throughout the years. To honor his memory and passion for helping his community, a scholarship fund was established to support Gardendale High School seniors
