Do you know where to find the best fried cheese in Birmingham? No? Well, neither did I….until I did a little digging. Today we’re going in-depth into the fried cheese world, covering everything from curds to sticks and bites. Read on for the good stuff.

1. Go with a classic—Mozzarella Sticks at Little Italy Pizza & Pints

It’s hard to go wrong with classic mozzarella sticks. At Little Italy in Five Points, you can grab a basket of these in addition to other goodies like fried pickles, jalapeño poppers, calzones and, of course, delicious pizza.

2. Head to The Hive for cheese curds

The Hive is the go-to spot for action-packed arcade games, duckpin bowling and plenty of delicious cocktails. But, did you know they are serving up some seriously tasty bites too? Check out these hand-breaded cheese curds, served with sambal mayo and chives. Yes, please.

3. Tee’s Cheese Wedges at Mugshots are a Birmingham fave

Although they’re known for their signature burgers, Mugshots does not disappoint in the fried cheese department. We’re featuring their Tee’s Cheese Wedges, which I can confirm are just as delicious as they look. Hand-cut mozzarella or pepper jack cheese wedges are battered and fried, then served with marinara sauce.

4. Melt Bham is fried cheese heaven

MELT is paradise for cheese lovers. Whether you choose an OTT grilled cheese or these crispy mozzarella bites, you really can’t go wrong. They’re serving these up with a secret sauce they call “Matilda Sauce,” and I think my lunch plans for today are sorted. Bonus? They even have some vegan-friendly options!

5. Fried mozzarella sticks at Otey’s Tavern

Rounding out our list of fried cheese decadence is Otey’s Tavern. Located in Mountain Brook’s Crestline Village, the popular spot is a local favorite for game day sips, trivia nights and so much more. But, have you tried their mozzarella sticks? Served with two dipping sauces, these are the perfect addition to your next Otey’s trip.
