Fall is swiftly approaching, which means apples are finally back in season. Whether you prefer a tart Granny Smith or a sweet Fuji, you can’t go wrong with this delicious fruit. In anticipation for the fall, we’ve put together a guide of some of the tastiest apple dishes in Birmingham.
1. Vino
I’m usually too full to order dessert after my meal, but this one might be worth making an exception. Vino’s Apple Fritters à la mode is the perfect complement to any meal. The warm apple fritters are topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

If you want to skip straight to dessert, you should definitely order Avondale Common House’s apple pie nachos. Yep, you heard us right. This one of a kind dish is made with spiced apples, caramel, candied pecans, vanilla whipped cream and cinnamon sugar chips.

3. Ashley Mac’s
Ashley Mac’s was ranked second during Birmingham Restaurant Week in the best lunch menu category, and we’re honestly not surprised. Next time you stop by, check out the Apple Havarti which contains smoked turkey, havarti, gala apples, balsamic drizzle, mixed greens, honey mustard and toasted wheatberry bread.
If you’re looking for a low-carb option, substitute the bread for lettuce.

4. Hero Doughnuts
I’m sure the last thing on your mind when stopping by Hero Doughnuts is ordering a salad, but you have to trust us on this one. Hero’s super salad is a showstopper. It’s made with mixed greens, apples, blueberries, oranges, honey nut granola and honey vinaigrette.
If you’re craving sweets, you’re in for a treat because Hero Doughnuts has just brought back their apple fritters for this fall season. These fritters are only available on Friday, Saturday and Sundays so plan accordingly.
