Dinner + brunch with a view: 6 local restaurants with rooftops
Ah, springtime is finally here. Despite the excessive amount of pollen, we’re living for this patio weather. What better way to enjoy local eats than on a dreamy rooftop. Here are six restaurants around Birmingham that are serving up delicious dishes with a view.
1. Carrigan’s Public House
Welcome to Carrigan’s—home of the dreamy, twinkle-lit rooftop and mouthwatering corn dog. The pub is a 21+ establishment and as soon as I turned 21, I determined it was well worth the wait.
Stop by for their delicious menu that offers Fish Tacos, The Double Burger, Pub Loaded Fries and more, but stay for the handcrafted cocktails and great views of Southside Birmingham.
2. Moon Shine at The Elyton Hotel

Take a trip up to Elyton Hotel’s rooftop for a stellar 365 degree view of Downtown Birmingham. It’s 16 floors above the hustle and bustle of the streets below and features a bar that serves yummy cocktails with happy hour everyday from 4-7PM.
When you’re not busy being in awe of the rooftop view, check out Moon Shine’s delicious menu that highlights artisanal small plates and wood-fired pizza selections.
3. The HIVE

Last year, we were excited to announce the opening of The HIVE in the heart of Birmingham’s Five Points South. It offers multiple experiences including rooftop access, a taproom from New Belgium Brewing, a stand-alone bar, restaurant and more.
Now let’s talk about the main event—the food! The menu features snacks, sandwiches, pizza and plates. Here are a few selections that caught my stomach’s attention:
- Charcuterie Board
- Braised Short Rib Sandwich
- BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich
- Bee Sting Pizza
- Fish & Chips
- AND MORE
4. Roots & Revelry

A delicious meal and a downtown view? Count me in. Roots & Revelry is located in the Thomas Jefferson Tower. Though located in a historic building, the menu is far from outdated. The menu is a fun, energetic tribute to American Fare with options for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Plus, Roots & Revelry always finds a way to host celebrations whether that be a special menu for Valentine’s Day or Mardi Gras festivities. Just keep an eye on their social channels to see what specials they’ll be whipping up next.
5. Habitat Feed & Social

Located at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook sits a whimsical rooftop. Habitat Feed & Social’s rooftop patio gives me major Alice in Wonderland vibes and I’m loving it. Their menu features elevated classics made from fresh ingredients like steak and seafood.

6. Mayawell Bar

Did you know that Mayawell Bar in Lakeview serves Sunday brunch? I didn’t either until researching places around town for this article. The same people who make a mean margarita and have beautiful sunset views of Birmingham also whip up delicious Sunday brunch from 11AM-3PM.
The brunch menu features Tex-Mex items like Breakfast Tacos, Mexican Eggs Benedict, Breakfast Burritos and more. During the week, you can usually find a food truck parked in their lot as well.
