The Holi Festival and 3 other events are safely bringing live entertainment to Bham from now through Apr. 9

It’s no secret that Birmingham has a thriving entertainment scene. From musical theater to live concerts, there is something for everyone. Due to the pandemic, Birmingham venues have had to find creative ways of providing us with live entertainment, while adhering to safety guidelines and making sure we are comfortable. Check out these four events that will provide you with quality live entertainment, while in the comfort of your home or vehicle!

Grammy Nominated Jazz Musician Stephon Harris

The UAB Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center has been committed to exposing our community to an array of diverse talent from all over the world. One way they’ve been able to uphold this commitment during the pandemic is by holding free virtual live performances. One of their highly anticipated upcoming acts is Grammy-nominated Jazz musician Stephon Harris.

When: April 9th

“Big Sister, Little Brother”

When it comes to live entertainment, we can’t forget about the kids! The Birmingham Children’s Theatre is virtually providing live performances of their newest production entitled “Big Sister, Little Brother“, which is a spin on the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by Hans Christian Anderson.

Dates: March 9th – April 1st, 2021

Toby Mac Drive-In Theater Tour

The Grand River Drive-In, located in Leeds, is a premier drive-in theater with amenities such as an off-leash dog park, and the Snack Shack where you can order dinner for your family. In addition to movie showings, the Grand River Drive-In will also be hosting Toby Mac and Cochren & Co on April 7th, for his Drive-In Theater Tour. This is a safe concert experience you do not want to miss out on!

When: April 7th, 2021

Time: Gates open at 5:30. Live music starts at Dusk.

Where: The Grand River Drive-In, Leeds, AL

Tickets: All tickets are sold on a per car basis (Limit of six people per car) and will be parked in order of arrival in the tier purchased. Price Range: $60-$175

Holi At Home Festival

Although the Birmingham Museum of Art has recently opened its doors with limited capacity, they’ve decided that all of their programming will take place virtually for the foreseeable future. This includes one of their most popular events, the HOLI Festival, which is an ancient Hindu holiday that began in India to welcome the changing of the season. Although this year’s festivities will be virtual, BMA have come up with a way to keep the experience interactive. The festival will still feature live performances and live poetry readings, as well as the throwing of the colors.

Cost: FREE
