The most magical time of the year is almost here. Of course, we’re talking about The Pizitz’s Festival of Trees! The holiday favorite is returning this Saturday, November 28 with a debut party you don’t want to miss.

There’s lots of festive fun in store including live music from the Rebecca Egeland Band, a holiday photo booth with FlashBar and the debut of the 2020 Enchanted Forest. This year, the Enchanted Forest will feature creations from local artists like Shawn Fitzwater, Amanda Nicholson of City Folk Creative and University of Montevallo Students.

P.S. Keep an eye out for your favorites from last year—the 2019 trees will be on display as well.

When: Saturday, November 28th from 11-3PM. Can’t make the debut? No worries! The trees will be on display through the holidays and into January.

2. Pizitz After Dark: Tacky Sweater Edition ☃️

Ready to dig out your tacky holiday sweater? Pizitz After Dark is back December, 18th and it’s tacky-sweater-themed. There will be a tacky sweater contest, a DJ spinning tunes, a photo booth and some super fun holiday cocktails.

When: Friday, December 18th from 7-11PM

3. Sidewalk’s 1st Bad Movie Marathon 🍿

For the first time ever, Sidewalk is hosting a Bad Movie Marathon Fundraiser where seven local “Bad Movie Marathoners” will compete against each other to see who stick it out through the most terrible holiday movies.

The funds raised will help continue some of Sidewalk’s important educational programs including:

  • The Sidewalk Youth Board
  • Sidewalk EDU
  • The shOUT About Youth Program
  • The Black Lens Filmmaker Grant
  • And their Membership Program

Want to support the marathoners on their quest to conquer some really bad holiday movies? You can donate, purchase a t-shirt or sponsor an item for a marathoner—like a caffeinated beverage or a blanket and pillow—on their site.

When: The event starts December 4 at 7PM and ends when the final marathoner just can’t take another bad holiday film. (According to Sidewalk, the world record is 5+ days…*grabs popcorn*)

Whether you’re heading to a holiday movie at the Alabama Theatre or exploring downtown, add The Pizitz to your list of places to stop by for a delicious bite to eat or something yummy to drink.

For a full list of food + drink options, visit their site. And follow them on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on more holiday happenings coming soon!
