5 Birmingham candy shops to hit up for a sweet treat

Hope your sweet tooth is ready because November 4th is National Candy Day. We’re celebrating by highlighting Birmingham’s delicious candy shops. You probably have a lot on your mind and we could sure use the excuse to enjoy a local, sweet treat that will put your Halloween leftovers to shame. Check ’em out!
1. The Birmingham Candy Company
Located in the Pizitz Food Hall, The Birmingham Candy Company will have you feeling like a kid in a candy store. This family-owned candy shop only uses the freshest local products to achieve sweet perfection.
Everything is handmade. From the caramel apples adorned with pecans to praline pecan bites, you can bet that everything was made with locally sourced ingredients and care.

2. Honeycreeper Chocolate
Honeycreeper Chocolate makes picking the perfect holiday gift a little bit easier thanks to their carefully curated gift boxes. Not only are their products aesthetically pleasing, but after one bite, it’s going to be hard to resist eating the whole box.
Honeycreeper offers bean-to-bar chocolate and small batch bonbons from chocolatiers around the globe. Let’s just say that Hershey’s bar you had this Halloween can’t compare to their delicious assortment of chocolates.

3. Sugar Inc
Let’s face it. Everyone gets a sweet tooth every now and then—some more than others. The boutique candy shop, Sugar has something for everyone to enjoy. You can satisfy that sweet tooth with vintage candies, seasonal assortments, sour belts, gummy bears, toffee and so much more.
If you’re looking to get some treats for the upcoming holidays, Sugar has you covered with Christmas themed treats and chocolate turkeys for Thanksgiving. Before you scrunch your nose, let’s be clear that I’m not talking about turkey dipped in chocolate. It’s just a tiny mold of a turkey made out of chocolate! Glad we could clear that one up.

4. Chocolatá Artisanal Chocolates
Something about Chocolatá just puts me at ease. Maybe it’s their ethereal aesthetic or maybe it’s knowing that a divine assortment of chocolate isn’t too far out of reach. Located in Downtown Birmingham, Chocolatá mixes diverse flavors in handcrafted recipes.
If you’re looking to shop local for your holiday gifts this year, this chocolate shop has gift boxes filled with the sweetest treats in unique flavors and shapes.

5. Sky Bear Confections
This September we learned that Sky Bear Confections is bringing their first brick and mortar store to Trussville. They debuted their delicious creations over a year ago and now they’re working on renovating their store located in the historic Velma building that previously housed the old Parish Seafood and Oyster House.
Sky Bear Confections will soon be serving up hand-painted bonbons, specialty desserts, coffee, tea, espresso drinks and more. We’re not 100% sure when opening day is for their brick and mortar, but updates will be posted on their Facebook page, so stay tuned.
