Before the world went up in flames and Bandit Pâtisserie closed in spring, I spent nearly every weekend working at the bakery’s Homewood location. Now, the team has finally reopened at a new spot in downtown Birmingham—check out the deets on the sweets.

A move closer to family

The bakery’s reopening joins a slew of new business in Birmingham and to sweeten the deal even more, they’ve picked the perfect spot to open shop. Just up the street from The Essential, Bandit will operate out of a walk-up window and also feature outside seating on their patio.

Given the beautiful weather this week brought us and the comfort food we need during election season, the timing is nothing short of serendipitous.

“We are excited to have Bandit located downtown, next to our other shop, The Essential. COVID has obviously brought challenges to all of us in the restaurant industry, so we decided to bring both shops closer together. It enables us to be present at both places and collaborate even more between the menus.”

“We’ll be open 9AM-1PM every Saturday and Sunday starting November 14th. We have a beautiful selection of sweet and savory pastries, along with iced and brewed coffee. And our holiday menu launches next week, which will be available for pre-order and contactless pickup.”

Stay tuned for a special event

While Bandit will be closed this weekend, November 7-8, be sure to swing by their pop-up event, The Butcher and The Baker. They will be joined by Golden Age Wine and offer charcuterie, pâtisserie and socially distanced fun.

  • When: November 9 from 5-9PM
  • Don’t forget: Your mask and your appetite!

No such thing as too many cooks in this kitchen 🍳

Bandit is the business child of Birmingham chefs Kristen Hall and Victor King. The duo also co-owns The Essential and you’ll often find delicious elements intermixing between the two.

Whether you have one of Kristen’s pop tarts at The Essential’s brunch or find yourself buying a loaf of Victor’s Summer Sourdough at Bandit’s booth in the Market at Pepper Place, this team is the collab that could save 2020, or at least make it more bearable.
