Kindness matters. To help those who need it most, many Birmingham organizations are giving away free food. If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, continue reading for info on when and where food pickups are in the coming weeks and months.

Community Food Bank of Central Alabama

Through the Farmers to Families Program, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama (CFBCA) will be hosting a free food giveaway for families in need in Birmingham via a drive-thru mobile pantry on Thursday, June 4.

The event is made possible due to generous donations from Huffman High Alum and NFL Defensive Tackle Marcell Dareus and NFL two-time Pro-Bowl and Star defensive tackle Brett Meredith.

Any families in Huffman or surrounding areas who need groceries can attend, no questions asked.

The Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry distributions are CDC compliant and drive-thru style. To receive groceries, simply pull up, remain in your vehicle and pop your trunk. Volunteers will place groceries inside.

Dareus, who has a passion for off-field charitable efforts, will be at the event helping load cars with groceries and helping neighbors in need.
