Cats, coffee and—yoga? Gatos and Beans, Alabama’s only cat café, is bringing the cuddles to Avondale. Check it out!
Furtunate to Have Our Very Own Cat Café
Gatos and Beans, Birmingham’s first and only cat café, opened last summer in Avondale. It’s an adoption center, a cat therapy haven, a coffee shop and more.
Founded by the cat-loving Steward family, Gatos and Beans is the first cat café in the state of Alabama. However, it’s not the first of its kind—there are similar concepts popping up all over the country.
Pick up your cuppa joe or a glass of mos-CAT-o. Gatos and Beans also sells wine and beer, so you can #RoséAllDay.

Kitty Concerts
Gatos and Beans is hosting its very first concert on February 22. Rachel McIntyre Smith is a singer-songwriter based out of Chattanooga. She’ll be performing an acoustic set as part of her “Kitten Coma Tour,” and all merchandise proceeds will be donated to animal rescue. Find out more.
Cat Yoga
Stretch like a kitty at cat yoga! Beginner yoga classes are taught at Gatos and Beans every Monday from 6PM-7PM. Taught by Katie from Beacon Yoga, classes are $15 and limited to 8 people per class, so be sure to make your reservation online.
Want to Get in Right Meow? Here’s How.
One SUPER important thing to note as you head to your local cat café is that you need to make a reservation, especially if you’re planning on visiting during the weekend. It’s $10/person for one hour in the cat room, and trust us—it’s worth it.
These Photos Will Make Your Day—Fur Real
As you can see, our Bham Now team had a 10/10 time hanging out at the café.
The best news? These fur babies are up for adoption through Kitty Cat Haven and Rescue.
