“Relaxed, easy-going, and fun. Those are the three words that parents always use when they tell me how much they–and their children–love our summer camps. These are not intense, competitive activities; we just really want to introduce kids to new activities so they can get a feel for sports or the arts.”
Ellen Dean, Director of Recreation
By popular demand, Asbury has tailored its camps to last a few hours in the morning or afternoon. However, you can combine camps to create an all-day option or enroll in a camp that follows Asbury’s Vacation Bible School on June 24-27.

For children with special needs, Asbury is proud to offer Shepherd’s Ministry, a dedicated team designed to support children with special needs including autism and ADHD. From a special sensory room to dedicated student aids, their team is trained to help children learn and feel loved in a way they’re most comfortable.
In honor of its Shepherd’s Ministry program, Asbury UMC will also be taking up a special offering for the Overton House run by Glenwood Inc. and the United Methodist Children’s Home. Overton is home to eight teenagers in Birmingham who are unable to live in their own homes because of their parents’ inability to care for them or because of behavior issues.
Any money collected during VBS will go to Overton to help create an intentional outdoor space for residents complete with hardscape design, special paving, and play areas including sensory elements.
