On Sunday, June 2nd, the popular Lakeview tapas and tacos restaurant Babalu experienced a small fire that forced the place to close for the evening.

Despite news reports and social media rumors suggesting the restaurant would be closed for an extended time, it was back open for business the following day.

In fact, a Bham Now content producer confirmed this on Monday evening.

On a lighter note – he also reported that the guacamole and chips are “fantastic!”

Over the past two years Birmingham has seen a number of fires at restaurants, most notably the Urban Standard fire a couple of years ago and the fire on 7th Avenue South last March that destroyed  Yum Yai Thai Takeout / Chai Market .
