Cinco De Mayo is May 5th and we are already counting down the days. If you haven’t made plans yet, make sure to add Iron City’s Cinco De Mayo party presented by Birmingham Mountain Radio and Cuervo with Los Lobos and The Vegabonds to your calendar. Keep reading to find out all the specials and how to win tickets!
First Thing’s First: Food
We know that’s what you really care about anyway. Chef Ian Barker with Iron City Grill will be cooking up something goooood for the party. Now, I haven’t taste-tested or anything, but from everything I know about him, I can definitively say it’s gonna be good. The all-you-can-eats include:
- Short Rib Quesadilla: Slow Braised Short Ribs, Jack Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Cilantro Crema
- Steak Fajitas: Marinated Steak, peppers, onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro crema
- Gulf Shrimp Ceviche: Citrus Marinated Gulf Shrimp, Pico de Gallo, warm tortilla chips
And that’s not all. Pastry Chef Ashley Thompson will be whipping up the sweet treats so make sure you save some room for those… Or maybe eat dessert first, because you only live once. The sweets include:
- Classic Flan: A traditional Mexican dessert, similar to creme brulee
- Tres Leches Cake: A sponge cake soaked in three types of milk—hence the name!
Cheers! Salud!
The drinks will definitely be flowing, considering the event is presented by Jose Cuervo. Cuervo drinks will be $5 ALL. DAY. And you’ll probably want to take advantage of that special because salsa dancing lessons start at 5PM. Liquid courage, right?
More on the Music
It wouldn’t be an Iron City party without music, and the line up is looking good. Music starts at 7PM with the Vegabonds, the Alabama-born, Nashville-bred Southern rock band. The headliners will be Los Lobos, a Mexican-American band from California who topped the charts when they covered Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” in 1987.
