July marks the 21st anniversary of Driver’s Way. Yep, this used-car dealership has been serving the greater Birmingham area for 21 years! How will Driver’s Way be celebrating the occasion? By showering their loyal customers with great discounts and one really amazing prize!

There are several used-car dealerships around town, but Driver’s Way has been a leader in the used-car dealership industry since 1997.
Driver’s Way General Manager Doug Anderson (in Pelham and on Hwy. 280) has been with the company since the very beginning.
“We’ve done really well,” Anderson said.
By initiating a guest-focused selling process, Anderson puts online sales at the top of his priorities. It’s what Birmingham car buyers want most: browsing from anywhere.
“Today’s consumer wants to shop online and get all the information before they go to a dealer,” Anderson said.
A Leader In Online Service And Technology
Since the beginning, Driver’s Way has been a leader in online service and technology. If you consider the changes in technology over the past 21 years, the progress that’s been made is pretty incredible.
Driver’s Way first opened in 1997 in what Anderson calls the “old-school era”. They started the company with no Internet or website, during a time when selling cars online was unheard of.
“We started out with no Internet, nothing,” Anderson said. “And we were the first ones in town to be a one-price, no-haggle, transparent store. So when the Internet came along, it was a lot easier for us to adapt to the way consumers wanted to shop.”
We all know shopping has changed big time over the last ten years. The process was much slower, especially when it came to buying.
“What happened in the 2000’s and in the last 10+ years is that customers shop completely differently,” Anderson said. “They go online and want to know everything about a car upfront before going to see it. Because of this, we do most of our transactions online. We evolved with the customer.”
Quick, Easy, Painless
Less foot traffic in the store means more personal attention devoted to you, whether you text, call or walk in the door. Does this mean a drop in sales? Not at all!
Anderson explained that most customers today only go to one or two dealerships before making a decision to purchase a car. They want the process to be easy, quick and painless; shopping online is usually the best way to do it.
“The sales didn’t go down,” stated Anderson. “But when customers come in, they’ve already done all the research and know all of the information. So when someone comes looking to buy a car, they pretty much know exactly what they want.”
