McWane Science Center has welcomed millions of visitors since first opening its doors 20 years ago. Explorers of all ages flock year-round to see, hear, touch and experience the wonderful world of science in one of the South’s most unique venues.

Now, with their Spring Fever event, McWane is inspiring children and adults through science, technology, engineering and mathematics!

Here are some of the special programs happening during this Spring Fever event:

Friday, March 23 – Sunday, March 25: ‘Backyard Wilderness’ Opening Weekend

Be a part of opening weekend and see ‘Backyard Wilderness’ in the IMAX Dome. Doing so will get you a commemorative poster!

March 26-31: Spring Break/Brain Awareness Week

The slide is open for everyone to enjoy this week!  Join us for daily showings of ‘Mac and Wayne’s Excellent Adventure’ in Rushton Theater for real life science.  Celebrate the brain during Brain Awareness week. Discover a variety of interactive activities that describe how the five senses work and even play surgeon alongside UAB staff and graduate students while you dissect a sheep brain and cow eyeball!

Saturday, March 31: The Great McWane Egg Drop

You definitely won’t want to miss your chance to partake in The Great McWane Egg Drop happening March 31. This will be a full day of happenings, from constructing your own egg drop contraption to putting your construction skills to the test and dropping your egg from 45-feet high! Will your egg crack or will it be one of the few survivors?

Wednesday, April 4: ‘Journey to the South Pacific’ combo ticket

For just $10, you can ‘Journey to the South Pacific’ in the IMAX Dome, as well as explore all four levels of Adventure Halls.

Friday, April 6-Sunday, April 8: Panda-monium!

‘Pandas’ – narrated by Kristen Bell – comes to the IMAX Dome. Dress in black and white on Friday and receive a special giveaway. Enjoy $10 ‘Pandas’ combo tickets on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday, April 9–Sunday, April 15: Camp McWane

Enjoy a fun-filled week of demonstrations, experiments and activities from the McWane’s most popular summer camps.

Purchase $10 ‘Backyard Wilderness’ combo tickets for your last chance to explore the Backyard Adventures traveling exhibit.

Like movies? Then be sure to visit the McWane Center’s IMAX Dome to see their two newest movies: ‘Backyard Wilderness” and ‘Pandas’. Here you’ll sit under a five-story domed screen that fills your entire field of vision and audio that surrounds you to create a truly immersive sight and sound film experience.
