Well, Alabama you made the Internet explode. TIME.com reports that we “shocked the world.”

TIME also noted that people were crying during Jones’ victory speech:

“’Oh, my,’” Jones said, as a moist-eyed, joyous crowd hung on his words. ‘Folks, I got to tell you, I think that I have been waiting all my life, and now I just don’t know what the hell to say.’”

According to Business Insider, a recount would be possible after all the votes have been certified, sometime after December 26.

However, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill told CNN that it’s over.

“I know a lot of people would say it’s never over until it’s over, but the margin of victory for Doug Jones at this particular time looks like a very difficult amount of votes to overcome as the remaining votes that are out there to be counted next week begin to be considered at the local level,” Merrill told CNN on Wednesday.
