The Performance

Disney’s Newsies was quite the hit on Broadway. Now it is making its debut at the local Dorothy Jemison Day Theater right here in Birmingham. Ticket prices start at $25. The theater also offers a sensory-friendly performance hosted by the Autism Society of Alabama.

This high energy piece highlights Jack Kelly, a newsboy, and his cohort of ragged teenaged ‘newsies’ who dream of better lives off of the streets. You’ll be moved by the age-old themes of social injustice and exploitative labor practices. Watch the struggles of the young against a corrupt establishment in this underdog story line.

It’s a Musical!

Of course, the play has plenty of songs to enthrall, all brand new and created by the original team of Menken and Feldman. Don’t worry Newsies film fans, many of the beloved songs from the movie will be included.

If you are looking for a performance with non-stop excitement and thrills, you won’t want to miss Disney’s Newsies. Do you know any of the actors?   If you don’t want to take a chance on getting tickets, go ahead and get them now.
