The highly anticipated return of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s football team is only a few months away. Here’s another reason why football season can’t come soon enough.

A celebration like no other is coming to UAB the weekend of September 1st. To kick off the historic weekend, UAB will be hosting a House Party featuring Sam Hunt, famed country artist, and Blazer alum.

Since the announcement of the football team’s return on June 1st, 2015, supporters have continued to rally behind the Athletic Department, raising over 43.2 million for further improvements and growth. The UAB House Party is yet another great way to garner the support the team needs.

The free concert will take place in Birmingham’s Uptown Entertainment District. You will need tickets to enter. They will be available to the public at 10 a.m.  Friday, August 4th.

Hunt’s opening acts will include Maren Morris and Ryan Follese as well as a special appearance by the UAB head football coach Bill Clark, the team, cheerleaders and Marching Blazers Band.

Hunt, one of Nashville’s most talked-about young talents, was a starting quarterback of the Blazer football team as well as a 2007 graduate of the University.

“I love Birmingham and will always be a Blazer,” Hunt said. “I am honored to kick off the celebration of UAB Football with a big Friday night house party in Uptown. This return is an inspiration, and I’m ready to rock this city like UAB will rock A&M.” –  Sam Hunt

The first game of the season will be the following day, Saturday, September 2nd at  at2:30. They will play at Legion Field against the Alabama A & M Bulldogs. You won’t want to miss #theReturn.
