UAB’s Women Basketball takes home their second largest win in history

Everyone knows UAB’s basketball program is an impressive one. And that definitely hasn’t changed this season. Yesterday evening, the Women’s Basketball team not only took home a victory but a new record as well.

The team defeated the Miles College Golden Bears 106-48. This is the most points ever scored in Bartow Arena in the program’s history.  Even though the team hadn’t played these rivals since 1989, five players scored double figures during the game and kept a ferocious stamina throughout.

“I think we just kept playing and kept competing. As long as you compete, it’s about outworking the other team, and I felt like we kept playing even though things weren’t going our way at first.”

-Senior,  Janeka Williams, Guard Position

This is a welcome win as the team moves into Conference USA play. The next game will be on January 1st against Middle Tennessee at our very own Bartow Area. Watch the Blazers come up against the defending C-USA champions starting at 2 pm. Click here to buy tickets.
