DESCRIPTION:Councilor Crystal Smitherman will host the fifth annual YouthSpeak event\, a community-centered Black History Month showcase\, this Friday\, February 20\, beginning at 12 p.m. at Red Mountain Theatre. Presented in partnership with Red Mountain Theatre\, YouthSpeak will showcase the talents of students from Birmingham City Schools through performances celebrating Black history and culture. This event is FREE to the public and will feature dance and choir presentations\, as well as a student poetry competition. \nCommunity members who are unable to attend in person can watch the event via livestream on the Birmingham City Council’s Facebook page.
