SUMMARY:In the Moment: Recent Acquisitions to AEIVA's Permanent Collection Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:AEIVA presents In the Moment: Recent Acquisitions to AEIVA’s Permanent Collection\, featuring work by seventeen artists acquired over the past three years—many of which are on view at AEIVA for the first time. Work by artists from Alabama and beyond reflect AEIVA’s focus on contemporary art that cultivates a regional perspective within a broader cultural dialogue. \nThe assembled works are particularly attuned to the poetics of the everyday. Looking to the interplay between memory and material\, reality and imagination\, they offer textured reflections on the warp and weft of contemporary life. In the Moment also highlights collecting as a living\, collaborative practice—one informed by a shared investment in how the present is seen\, held\, and carried forward. \nArtists:\nGema Álava\, Kathryn Andrews\, Pinky/MM Bass\, Katherine Bernhardt\, Jennifer Coates\, Sue de Beer\, Susan Fitzsimmons\, Paul Kremer\, Mokha Laget\, Futoshi Miyagi\, Celestia Morgan\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Manjari Sharma\, Nancy Shaver\, Susanna Starr\, Jacqueline Surdell\, and Ana Pérez Ventura \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public. Join us for an opening celebration on Thursday\, May 21 from 5 to 7pm.
