Join us for our new inaugural event, YW Allies! This event honoring men in Central Alabama who have advocated for gender and/or racial equality in their company, community or with YWCA Central Alabama takes place on Wednesday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Avondale Brewing Company.

The inaugural 10 YW Allies are:

In order for YWCA Central Alabama’s vision of a community in which racism is eliminated and women are empowered to truly come to life, we need partners like our YW Allies to join us in this fight. To learn more about the Allies and to attend the event, please visit allies.swell.gives. Saw’s BBQ will be catering and a cash bar will be available. A $10 minimum donation to a YW Ally’s campaign is requested.

COVID-19 is increasing the demand for needs from Birmingham nonprofits whose missions are dedicated to caring for our most vulnerable. How are the complete redo of the 59/20 bridges through downtown Birmingham, a 114-year old real estate company and the YWCA of Central Alabama all connected? Turns out, all three came together in a way that means a lot of women and children who get housing through the YWCA will have a cozy and safe place to call home.
