The Birmingham Zoo is going to have a very special visitor on Saturday, January 7th, between 11:00am to 1:30pm.
The International Crane Foundation’s 7 foot tall Whooping Crane mascot “Hope” will be making an appearance.
This is a real treat.
Lizzie Condon, Whooping Crane Outreach Coordinator for the International Crane Foundation informed Bham Now this afternoon (December 15, 2016) that 18 Whooping Cranes have been spotted on the grounds of the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. This week, during the day, up to 12 Whooping Cranes have been seen near the wildlife refuge visitor center/observation building.
In the coming month, the Whooping Crane, one of the rarest birds in North America will be returning to Alabama.
Yes, that’s right, for Whooping Cranes our state is – Sweet Home Alabama.
