Students will learn different techniques to create functional pottery or sculptural works of art. Be inspired by artists in the Museum’s collection with a focus on our Pueblo ceramics.

Silkscreen Printmaking

Learn the silkscreen process from start to finish!

Learn the silkscreen process from start to finish!

Students will begin by creating and exposing their own screens before printing unique designs on paper or cloth. Jumpstart your creative process by using local artist-made silkscreens inspired by works in the BMA collection. Open to adults and high school students who are accompanied by an adult. Registration required.

This class will feature the art of pewter casting with local artist Tym Davis.

Art meets craft. Enjoy a craft beer while creating an original work of art! This class will feature the art of pewter casting with local artist Tym Davis. Be inspired by the Museum’s Wedgwood collection of cast pewter pendants and small tiles while creating your own contemporary interpretation.

Open to adults ages 21 and up. Registration required. Members receive a 20% discount on all Studio School classes.

Explore your creativity in a relaxed setting. Under the guidance of teaching artist Jamison Harper, spend time sketching in the sculpture garden or galleries. You provide the creativity. We’ll provide the supplies.

No registration necessary. Open to adults and high school students who are accompanied by an adult. Look for signs at either entrance for gallery location.

Our studio is your studio. Take this open invitation to create with access to all of our art supplies.

Here’s an all-access pass to use any of our art supplies with a professional teaching artist on hand to help with tips and tricks. Open Studio makes available materials used for anything from painting and pottery to printmaking and woodworking.

Open to adults and high school students who are accompanied by an adult. $15 per class, registration required. Receive 20% off 4-Class Season Pass.

Learn to see forms and understand painting concepts including composing landscapes using shape and color, mixing oil colors, and manipulating paint with a palette knife to blend and shape a landscape form.

Discover the ancient art form of Sumi-e black ink painting with artist Anne Herbert.

Whether calligraphy, landscape, or still life the objective is to unite masterful brush strokes, an essence of the subject matter, and the hand of the artist into spare but powerful paintings. During this two-day workshop students will learn the basics of Sumi-e painting techniques and traditions. As the course develops, we consider how these can be applied to more contemporary and personal approaches to painting.
