Drawing and Mixed Media

Inspired by Embodying Faith: Imagining Jesus through the Ages, learn to apply characteristics artists used to depict Jesus based on their specific time and place in art history.

A multi-media exploration of Jesus in art. Given Christianity’s role in shaping Western culture, it is not surprising that artists through the ages have sought to convey its mysteries. In this multi-media class, we will explore the connection between faith and the desire to create, with drawing guidance from instructor Jamison Harper.  The class will find inspiration from pieces in the Museum’s exhibit, Embodying Faith: Imagining Jesus through the Ages.

Layered Printmaking with Xerox Transfers

Turn your drawings and photos into combinatorial print elements using a paper lithography process.

Turn your drawings and photos into combinatorial print elements using a paper lithography process. Learn from Paperworkers Local teaching artists Enid Keyser and Mimi Boston.

In this workshop, we will turn your drawings and photos into prints using a non-toxic paper lithography process using gum arabic and litho ink. We will then combine those photo and drawing elements with layers of textures and color.  We will ink and print fabric for textural color. The photos and drawings should be simple and high contrast to transfer well with the paper litho process. Once you learn the process, the combinations are limitless. Bring your own imagery if you would like (more information will be sent before the class).

$50 for 2 classes, all materials included.
