The Moth StorySLAM: Earth

Prepare a five-minute story about EARTH. Communing with nature, digging up dirt, or saving our blue marble. Cooling or warming, believing or denying, uniter or great divider. Bring us stories of Mother Nature, Smokey the Bear and other salts of the earth.

*Tickets will become available 1 week before the show, at 2pm CST.

The Moth StorySLAM: Challenge

Prepare a five-minute story about a feat that tested your mettle, sanity or patience. Triumph or defeat. Inch-by-inch success or major overhaul. Defeating the cocky know-it-all or walking past the spider web without freaking out. Throwdowns, duels, unbearable ultimatums. Bring us your tales of defying the odds, confronting that fear, or with any luck, rising to the occasion.

For those of us who love stories, there’s nothing better than a live storytelling event. My first was hearing Kathryn Tucker Windham at Sloss Furnaces when I was a kid.

The Moth StorySLAM in Birmingham: Firsts

The Moth presents its first ever StorySLAM in Birmingham, an open-mic storytelling competition that is open to anyone with a five-minute story to share on the night’s theme. Come tell a story, or just enjoy the show!

Prepare a five-minute story about your maiden voyage into uncharted territory. Wax on about your first: standing ovation, miserable failure, kiss, child, crisis of conscience, job, pet, toupee, trip overseas, exorcism, internet date, grandchild or fist fight. Grand openings, birth order, wild initiations, or milestones reached.
