A lot of people may forget that parts of Birmingham run into Shelby County. Our neighbors across the Jefferson County border have a lot going on, including local vineyards. Grab some friends, your wine glasses and let’s take a trip down Shelby County’s local wine trail.

Just south of Birmingham is Alabama’s fastest-growing county (according to the last census). Odds are, many of you reading this live, work or at least spend time in Shelby County. The county chamber is currently in the middle of an ambitious five-year plan. Here are four things you need to know.
Advocates for the Cahaba River are excited about plans by Shelby County and the state’s Forever Wild Program to develop a park alongside the Cahaba River in western Shelby County near the Bibb County line.
Bald Eagle that is currently under the care of the Alabama Wildlife Center. He came in this week, rescued from Lawrence County. He has carpel fractures on his left side – it looks like he was shot through the “wrist” part of his wing.
In the bird world they are “rock stars” – the Bald Eagle and the Eurasian Eagle Owl. The public loves them and people want to see them up-close.
Soon, bird lovers from all over the South and the country will get an opportunity to see our national symbol and the world’s largest owl up-close and personal at the Alabama Wildlife Center.
