New franchises, basketball as you don’t get to see every day, Russian ballet, and lots of classes! Find out what’s going on in Birmingham in the second January event guide.
This week in Birmingham, expect music of every style (and expect sound when you click on a band name), food, beer, and more! Continue reading “Birmingham Top Ten: September 20th-26th”
Another week, another top 10 list, and this one features everything from concerts to cars to cycling to cardboard armor! As usual, band links should be assumed to be inappropriate for blaring over computer speakers at work – use headphones instead!
So I was looking through our calendar (plus a couple of my own sources, just to make sure I hadn’t missed anything), and noticed something: this upcoming week has a TON of incredible concerts! Birmingham nightlife is picking up steam as we head into summer, and a surprising amount of it is free. So apologies to those who don’t like music (you monsters!) for my recommendations this week (which aren’t ALL music, but there’s a lot)!

We have another shortlist of things to do in Birmingham! At least until next Wednesday, here are ten of my most-anticipated events:
String Theory @ Trimtab Brewing Company, March 10, starts 7PM – This local group of conservatory-trained musicians play pop and rock on their classical instruments. Hearing a complete genre breakdown is really incredible. Details
If you only have time (or cash) for ten events next week, have I got a list for you! That’s right, it’s a top ten, for events coming next week! I try to include youtube links to music when I can, so don’t click things if you’re at work and aren’t using headphones. In the spirit of different strokes for different folks and not actually having seen them yet, I’m not going to rank any of these.
Amos Lee – Playing at the Alabama Theatre Feb 28th, doors open 7.30PM. Read more
