Earlier this August, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) reported an outbreak of pertussis, also called whooping cough, in Shelby and Jefferson counties. Beyond the outbreak, this serious, highly contagious respiratory disease is on the rise in Alabama. Good news!
