Innovate Birmingham and Central Six AlabamaWorks are joining forces to get Birmingham working—specifically in tech. This fall, Central Six AlabamaWorks will launch their approximately 17 month long Information Technology Apprenticeship Program. And with the help of Innovate Birmingham, they’re getting local tech talent in the field, earning while they learn and on their way to a career in software development.
The tech world can be intimidating, but Innovate Birmingham is changing that. They offer courses for FREE—no tech experience needed. And they are helping make Birmingham’s local tech industry more accessible to everyone. I’ve known about Innovate Birmingham for a few months, and have been so impressed with the work they’re doing to educate and establish IT talent in the Birmingham community. I’ve met some of the crew, toured their office at Innovation Depot, and also written about them a few times. But until attending Demo Day last week, I don’t think I truly understood the impact they are making every single day in the lives of not only their candidates but also the Birmingham tech scene as a whole.
