Hurricane Dorian evacuees are headed to Birmingham: 3 things to know

Retiring by the beach is awesome . . . until a giant storm is headed your way. Thankfully, Somerby Senior Living pulled some strings to bring 90 residents and 30 associates to Birmingham as Hurricane Dorian evacuees.

Let’s show them some Southern hospitality. Because seriously, if it was your parent or grandparent, wouldn’t you want people to welcome them?

How you can help these 4 Alabama organizations including the Red Cross with disaster relief from Hurricane Florence

Alabama Power crews are staged safely throughout Georgia and ready to respond when Florence makes landfall. Alabama Power crews of about 350 linemen left Tuesday at the request of Duke Energy, as forecasters are predicting Hurricane Florence will cause major damage along the east coast.

Hurricane Florence is a Category 2 storm and will hit the east coast somewhere between the South and North Carolina coastline. Although the exact path cannot be pinpointed more than 5 million people are under a hurricane warning and evacuated the area.
