As Hurricane Irma makes her way up the Florida coast and towards Georgia and Alabama, state and local officials are issuing statements regarding school closings and preparations throughout the city and state.

Birmingham stay safe in Irma’s path. Here’s what you need to do now.

Birmingham and Alabama residents have been anxiously watching Hurricane Irma reports and maps over the past couple of days.

And our apprehension has ratcheted up a notch over the last 24 hours, with new models showing Birmingham and Eastern Alabama within the path of Irma.
