October through December is easily one of the most exciting, hectic and treat-filled times of the year. When it comes to balancing holiday fun, a family and staying true to your fitness goals, CEO of Orangetheory Lauren Goldasich, gave us some valuable tips.

“Join In” for a fun dance experience like no other! SOL Dance Experience is an hour-long, LIGHTS OUT, free-form dance session for women of all fitness levels. This is a women’s only class. It’s about FREEDOM: Because when no one – not even you – can see you, your inhibitions fade away. When was the last time you danced like no one was watching? No more self-consciousness, judgments or social worries. In the dark, you’re free to move your body however you want or need to. In a room full of women, you’re free to dance your dance with total abandon. It’s about RELEASE: Just an hour of SOL reduces stress, clears mental blocks, energizes your physical body, and lifts your spirits. It’s about FUN: Bored with your cardio routine? Part dance party, part workout – we play a mix of eclectic dance tunes (changes weekly) designed to get you moving in different ways to different beats. It’s not your typical “workout”. It’s about EXPRESSION: We provide you a safe place to express yourself at your own pace, your own way: dance, sing, laugh, shout, cry, punch, kick, stretch, it’s your hour to be in your moment, in your power. You’ll leave feeling strong and exhilarated. Cost: $10 Non-Members/$5 LJCC Members
We’re back! Our first dance walk of 2019 will be 2pm on Sunday, March 24th at Railroad Park. We’ll meet on the grass across from the Boxcar Cafe (which is located under the 17th Street Plaza covered area). Just look for the balloons!
What is Dance Walking? It’s a fun fitness craze sweeping the globe. We are dancing and walking our way through Birmingham on a quest for fun, people, music, and FITNESS! Everyone is welcome and all ages are encouraged to join!*
We’ll provide music via megaphones throughout the dance walk, but feel free to bring your own or listen with some ear buds. Who cares as long as you’re moving! We’ll dance walk around the park until we’ve had our fill. Maybe it will end in a dance party in one of the rainbow tunnels!

While David and Elizabeth Self committed to forging a new path for themselves, they both admitted that some outside motivation was just what they needed.
