When I moved to Birmingham from the UK, I was ecstatic to learn pro-soccer was on the way. I set about getting to know people I could join to watch future games and found Magic City Brigade, the Birmingham Legion FC supporters group who have unwavering loyalty to the team and provide a sea of noise within the stadium. Done with college football? Here are the schedules for Birmingham’s 4 pro teams

Well, the college football season may have ended with a “thud” for Alabama Crimson Tide fans (they are welcome to join UAB’s parade!),  but have no fear, for the first time ever, the Birmingham metro area will have 4 professional sports teams playing almost simultaneously this winter and spring.

Birmingham Legion and UAB seal deal on joint use of BBVA Compass Field

The Birmingham Legion Football Club (FC) announced that it is partnering with UAB to house its USL professional soccer team at BBVA Field, which is the present location of the UAB Blazers soccer team.  The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees made the decision final last Friday.

In front of a filled to capacity room of supporters at Good People Brewing Company, Birmingham Legion Football Club (FC) announced Jay Heaps – former Major League Soccer (MLS) player and former head coach for the New England Revolution – as president and general manager of its professional United Soccer League (USL) team.
