Whether calligraphy, landscape, or still life the objective is to unite masterful brush strokes, an essence of the subject matter, and the hand of the artist into spare but powerful paintings. During this two-day workshop students will learn the basics of Sumi-e painting techniques and traditions. As the course develops, we consider how these can be applied to more contemporary and personal approaches to painting.
