How the West was Won and Lost

In this program for adults, specially trained docents present the Museum’s collection by means of verbal descriptions, three-dimensional tactile models based on original works of art, and original sculpture.

Join Docent Kay Hanlin for this guided tour of the American galleries using tactile replications of the BMA’s famous Bierstadt painting and a touch experience with two original sculptures. Reservations are required due to limited space. Please RSVP by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Diamonds and pearls and gold, oh my! Jewelry is a universal form of adornment. It can be an indication of rank and social status. Precious materials can be used as a form of protection against dangers. And, just like paint and stone, bling can be used as a material to make art.

Studio by the Tracks

On the third Tuesday of each month, Museum curators and special guests lead visitors on a 30-minute exploration in the galleries.
