YWCA Seeks Homelessness Prevention AmeriCorps Members
Do you have a passion for helping people who are experiencing homelessness?
YWCA Central Alabama is currently hiring for its Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program in the area of homelessness services and support. Qualified candidates interested in full-time, paid service to the community are welcomed to apply. Remaining positions include: YWCA Interfaith Hospitality House, a shelter for in-tact families experiencing homelessness, Firehouse Shelter, a shelter for men experiencing homelessness in the Birmingham area and One Roof, an organization supporting agencies who serve people experiencing homelessness.
- Stipend of $1200/month (pre-taxes)
- An education award of $6000+ upon completion
- No cost health insurance
- Student loan forbearance and interest accrual
- Service with some of Birmingham’s premier nonprofit organizations
- Extensive personal and professional development and FUN while serving
AmeriCorps positions start September 1, 2020 and conclude August 2021. All positions are full-time, Monday through Friday during normal business hours with some evening and weekend expectations. Members must be able to serve during the day each day. A passion for serving the community and commitment of one year is expected of all.
