YWCA Central Alabama’s Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program is recruiting service-minded individuals to fill 40 available positions for the 2018-19 program year. Those selected will have the opportunity to serve as part of the AmeriCorps state program at a local level providing direct service and capacity building for the YWCA and its nonprofit partner agencies.
The types of opportunities AmeriCorps members experience include:
Educating teenagers about dating violence prevention and social justice issues
Providing support to victims of domestic violence and persons experiencing homelessness
Serving with programs providing youth and teen empowerment
Providing economic education and environmental stewardship
Coordinating health-focused programs for families
AmeriCorps members selected for the coming year will start in September 2018 and conclude in August 2019.
Positions are all full-time, Monday through Friday during normal business hours. YWCA Central Alabama AmeriCorps applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or some college experience and be able to pass a
background check. Positions are filled by women and men from all walks of life who want an opportunity to make an impact in the community while also gaining great experience.
