Position Summary
Provides oversight and management of Meals on Wheels daily operational activities. Coordinates and manages program and project tasks both internally (between program staff or departments) and externally (with partner agencies or entities). Oversees kitchen and meal delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervises day-to-day tasks of kitchen and meal delivery services.
- Regularly reviews all MOW routes for efficiency, including mapping components + driver assignments
- Regularly assesses drop sites, assessing needs at sites, works collaboratively with partners, and expanding to new potential drop sites or prep sites
- Work with Kitchen Manager to oversee vehicle repairs, kitchen needs, and kitchen inventory
- Ensure all delivery vehicles are maintained, clean, and orderly, including scheduling timely vehicle maintenance (ie oil changes, tire rotations, etc)
- Assists in training staff and volunteers to ensure proper standards are met in meal service, programming and reporting
- Evaluate current operational performance and provide strategic plan for improvements
- Identify problems in operations process and resolve them in a timely manner
- Assist in food procurement, including food inventory and management of Community Food Bank Partnership
- Coordinate and manage daily/weekly/monthly program tasks
- Works with MOW Director to develop material for annual marketing calendar
- Assist Program Director in implementing and evaluating CQI as well as overall program outcomes
- Represent program and agency in the community
- Assists MOW Director with strategic planning and problem-solving to support program goals
- Coordinate with volunteer coordinator to meet program volunteer needs
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Functional knowledge of Microsoft office
Strong attention to detail
Must have a pleasant demeanor and customer service skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and community partners
Must be self-directed and possess the ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in social service or related field
2-3 years’ progressively responsible program management and supervisory experience
Requirements:
Valid Alabama driver’s license
Reliable transportation
Proof of automobile insurance commensurate with State law
Background checks to include but not limited to criminal record, drug screen, and TB test
